
Matthew Schreiber
Matthew Schreiber has an undergraduate degree in Fine Art Painting from the University of Florida, and an MFA in Art, Technology, and Experimental Film from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, with a specialization in Holography at the Royal College of Art, London. Schreiberʼs work has been the subject of solo exhibitions including Undertow, Almine Rech, NYC; Orders of Light, The Boca Raton Museum of Art; Crossbow at the Johnson Museum of Art, Cornell University; Side Show at Johannes Vogt Gallery, NYC; Guilloche at Fireplace Project, East Hampton; and Swiss Hall Basel, Switzerland.

Matthew Schreiber's laser sculptures create seemingly solid architectural forms from pure light. Drawing on his background in holography and over a decade working with famed Light and Space artist James Turrell, Schreiber constructs intricate geometries—woven ceilings, hovering corridors, immense W-shaped structures—using hundreds of precisely positioned laser beams suspended in haze. The works don't move, animate, or produce sound; they simply exist as static volumes that viewers can walk through and around. What appears to be a sci-fi simulation reveals itself as something tangible, occupying the threshold between the material and the utterly permeable.
