Shoot What You Know: Finding Your Voice Through Place and Identity
Born and raised in Southeast London, Nico Froehlich built one of the most recognized bodies of documentary work in contemporary British photography by doing something deceptively simple: pointing his camera at the world he already knew. In this session he breaks down why personal work rooted in lived experience is the most powerful creative tool any photographer has, and teaches participants how to identify what makes their perspective unique, and why honesty in image-making is more compelling than any technical trick. Drawing on his ongoing project South of the River and his practice working with young people across London, Nico makes the case for finding your story before you reach for your camera.
