Children of the Light
Children of the Light is an Amsterdam-based artist duo. Christopher Gabriel and Arnout Hulskamp work with light as their primary medium, creating kinetic sculptures, immersive installations, and live scenographies that evoke primal, cosmic experiences for viewers. Their work spans nightclubs, churches, and museums—from stage designs for Darkside and Philip Glass to a 25-meter suspended light sculpture in Amsterdam's Oude Kerk. Inspired by natural phenomena and the cosmos, their practice fosters collective transcendence through minimalist, atmospheric environments.

Diapositive is a kinetic light sculpture about light and darkness. Intense daylight is mounted and directed both inwards and outwards on a rotating black metal frame. The animated light illuminates haze and creates shapes in the air. As it continually transforms, the image is brought to life. Viewers can not only walk around it and see it from different perspectives, they will also have the feeling they can touch the image: with strong bright shapes, the dark parts function as black holes, resulting in an almost tactile darkness.
